Site Upgrade

I have decided to NOT upgrade to Zikula at the time, the upgrade will be too time consuming and buggy to work on for now. I have cleaned up the user database and purged several sql tables. You must reregister to post in the forums. Remember, you do NOT need to be registered/logged in to download files and view content...only to post!
I have also readded the Mobile site as I have received some emails about getting it back online...so it is back as well. http://mobile.programmingsource.net is the url. You can also have the link sent to your mobile phone or sign up for text alerts from the link in the upper right corner of this site!

Postnuke = Zikula

Postnuke has officially changed their name to Zikula with the release of version 1.0 in June 2008. I just now found out about it when I was trying to download a patch for the forums. Our PN scripts are not guaranteed to work with Zikula, we have not even tested it. From what I can see, it is the latest PN release as a stable version and actually a 1.0 (previous versions were .763 ect) with a name change. I will be looking into script and module compatibility when I have the time.

PS - Forums are still down until I test the patch/upgrade in full.

New YInformer Build

Although I did not really get a good response to the Login Test program I posted about and had a message on YInformer about...I have updated and released the login change in YInformer as well as some better packet parsing and returning. This should hopefully resolve any issues. If it does not login still and you did not test that login app and did not send me feedback, I am sorry but I am not recoding the login again...you had your chance to supply me with the information I needed! I can not "fix" something I was not able to duplicate on my end. Be ready if you post in the forums about YInformer not logging in, I will ask if you tested the login app AND if you sent me feedback.

Yahoo Protocol

I think Yahoo may be changing some things around and I think it has to do with the way I code my Yahoo apps. Doing some extensive testing (although unable to duplicate login issues that some are having) I have noticed, during VB debugging, some odd things coming up versus other yahoo traffic in a network monitor. Either my code is getting out of date or Yahoo is patching the protocol code and method I use. I will be working on rewriting some code, this could take a while...I am forewarning you!
When you sign up for a new Yahoo ID, you now have options of ymail.com or rocketmail.com that you can sign in to messenger with (with the full address). I did a quick test and YInformer will still return the status of those ID's as well.

Larry King Live Tonight with Chevron's C.E.O. David O'Reilly

Normally posting a CNN.com interview on this main page I wouldn't do. The Larry King Live Interview with Chairman and C.E.O David O'Reilly was very impressive. The topic was "How High Will Gas Prices Go?". Because so many of you out there use Vehicles daily, I had to run a link to the actual source.
In a previous interview with Chevron Corp. CEO David O'Reilly says Big Oil is not to blame for skyrocketing gas prices. I quote "O'Reilly said high demand and a short supply of crude oil were key factors causing gas prices to spike." unquote.
Then on youtube.com you will find the June, 30 2008's interview video starting with Larry King asking consumer's at the pump their questions about increasing gas Prices.

Don't forget Canada's Gas Prices are ultimately high. I have enabled comments if you care to share your thoughts.

New Updates...New People Wanted!

I have released an update to YInformer that included some core code updating that hopefully will help with the whole login situation as well as using a different installer method (that includes uninstall as well). I have also released a VB MsgBox Maker that is simple and to the point to use and sets it up as a Select Case variable so you can easily put in your code what to do when the end user clicks OK, Yes, No, Cancel...ect.

We are again looking for some good people to join our site staff here, we have a variety of positions open (these are volunteer, non paid) including: vb programmer, web/php developer, site endorsers, beta testing and moderators. Click HERE to see more details.

A little time!

I am starting a 1 week vacation from work (thank god!) and will have a little extra time in the mornings to work on here some and get things caught up. Although I am sure I will be back to more overtime once I go back to work. Anyways, I have an update for YInformer coming up soon as well as a new VB Message box maker and will be hopefully uploading more mobile downloads as well.

New YInformer Release

I have released a new version of YInformer, hopefully it will fix those few that are having issues with logging in still. Main change for it is now the ability to modify the port number to connect to, that could help out as well. Primarily all that needs done though is to just use a working, non patched login server. I have also added a primary ID parker that will allow you to park your primary yahoo ID. It will record if anyone has sent you an IM as well as let you know if your ID was scanned by YInformer!
Installer Notice!
I have also started using a self extracting setup for YInformer. I am tired of installers either being out of date and/or just not working right anymore. This means there will be NO uninstaller (for the time being). If you need to uninstall, just navigate to the path you installed YInformer and delete it.

YInformer Login...

There seems to be some bot login issues with YInformer, not sure if Yahoo just patched some servers or if they are playing around with the login procedures again. I have tested several different servers and still not able to login with YInformer. I have been working alot lately, that would explain not alot of site activity on my part. I am not sure when I can actually sit down to look into this, but I will get to this as soon as I can! For the meantime, just try using different server names and if anyone gets some to work, please post on our forums!
Update:
I do not see anything major going on for the protocol login, Yahoo is just patching servers. I was able to get YInformer to login with most of the servers listed in the forums. It could just be hit and miss but I can not duplicate any login problems nor do I see anything major changing for the login.

Microsoft WorldWide Telescope

Microsoft released Tuesday its WorldWide Telescope (gasp...for free use!) for looking at distant images of the universe in collaboration with images received from distant satellites. MS also has stated they are working on an "astronomers version" as well, probably for actual scientists instead of amatuer star gazers. Anyhow, I thought this is neat and wanted to post on here for anyone else that might be interested in it. Must have XP w/ SP2 or Vista to run. Link below...

http://www.worldwidetelescope.org/experienceIt/ExperienceIt.aspx

You may possibly need to refresh the page one or two times as it was just released and publicy announced and is getting alot of traffic. The download link is on the site listed above and is 20 mb.

New mobile apps

I have added Weather + and Windows Live Messenger to the mobile downloads. You can either download from here and upload to your phone or you can visit our mobile site from your phone to instantly download to your phone. Dont have our mobile url? Click on the link in the upper right corner of this site to have it sent to your phone and/or sign up for SMS text alerts!

Other News:
I have tested the YM Beta 9 latest version, looks like the Vista Messenger sort of. Anyways, YInformer still works for those running under it as well. I also have some cool new features in the works for YInformer that I think will really up the playing field and the standard for these types of programs.

Back Online

My legals have finally been delt with so no more distractions will get in the way of my business and personal development online. While I was away I promoted PS.net to many people who needed Tech Support consistantly. As a reminder the forums are a perfect place to ask your questions. They have always been answered in easy english.

A while back, a Tech Support Number for people to call based on our free time, was being developed. That is being reworked from the original plan and I will keep you updated on the progress.

It is good to see so many people using PS.net's services. Have a great day!

YInformer login fix.

I have released an update to YInformer that should fix the login issue. Apparently there was an issue with older versions of YM that are no longer supported as of 4-2-08. I had to update the header information to reflect this as well as modify some of the header packet. My testing shows it logs in fine now.
Mobile News:
I have uploaded some mobile phone ringtones as well. If you have a mobile phone with internet access, you can view our mobile site at
http://mobile.programmingsource.net
Ringtone downloads from here (not the mobile site) are zipped with instructions on downloading to your phone and how to preview them.

PS Soft Mobile

We now have a mobile site for those with mobile phones w/internet access. It is a small site with just news and ringtone downloads. The downloads have only been tested on the Sprint network and may not work on other provider networks. The ringtones are free to download and use from us. If you do not have a data pack, you could incur charges from your provider for data transfer. Point your mobile browser (or this browser to still see it) to http://mobile.programmingsource.net. I will update the mobile site with more content and downloads as time goes on.
Please note that if you browse that site with your pc (IE, Firefox, ect) you will just get a file download for the automatic install for a phone. I will be adding manual zipped downloads of those ringtones next week.

YInformer 3.2.100

I have released an update to YInformer including the option of changing the background to an image, specific color, gradient color or animated gradient. There were also some issues with the continuous scanning feature that did not scan the names in the list, it just scanned the last one only but did show the names change in the target ID. That has also been fixed. In order to create a more user friendly option, I have created an online how-to site for the basic use and features of YInformer that is image loaded and descriptive. This version of YInformer has a link to it from the YInformer Online Sites menu at the top of the program. Those curious about it can also navigate to the site listed below.

IE8 Beta

Microsoft has released (not sure when?) a beta of IE8 for XP SP2 and Vista users. You can download it from the Internet/Email category from here or just visit the Microsoft.com/ie/ site for it. I have not fully tested it as I am downloading/installing it now. More to come as I get it installed.
IE8 update:
Looks the same, some new features, does not show all html. At the bottom of this site, I have some scrolling links, it does not scroll with IE8. I am not all that impressed...however, it is a beta release though. It also has an "Emulate IE7" button that reverts IE8 back to IE7 functionality so you do not necessarily have to uninstall it, you can change back and forth.

I am working on another YInformer update as well, hopefully later today I will get it rolled out and it will have background customizing features and some better crafted code for easier execution.

YInformer 3.2 Released

I have released YInformer 3.2 now that should have the error 13 issue fixed. I have not received any more problems with the new installer yet either...so we may be good to go for now. I have also revamped the look of YInformer and have added an additional tab at the top for scanning options. The main scan tab was getting too crowded and started looking like crap, lol.
I have some big plans coming for the look and customization of YInformer, like ability to change the background color, add background images or add background color gradients as well!

Another YInformer Update...

I have changed the installer software to another brand and we will see how that goes as there were some increasing issues with the Wise Installer reported from several viewers. I have also REMOVED the streaming music and the wmp.dll file, that is the file that made the download so large! YInformer is now at 3.2 Mb again for the file download.

PLEASE UNINSTALL ANY PREVIOUS VERSION OF YINFORMER BEFORE INSTALLING 3.1.450!!!

YInformer Updated

I have finally released the update for YInformer...I kept running into a few small bugs but I think they are all taken care of hopefully!
NEW FEATURES -

YInformer now has the ability to scan a LIST of names! It is a premade list stored in the YInformer program files but has button links on the program for you to open it and load it and so on.

YInformer can now automatically save your scan logs! Go into the scan history and you will see a box to check for it to do that.

As normal, please report any issues in the YInformer Only forum topics.

YInformer Update...

I do have a nice update for YInformer coming along. However, it is taking longer than expected and I have to work out a couple of bugs for it. I promise the wait will be worth it to quite a few of you out there that have been bugging me for a "list scan" option....so that should be a nice hint as to what is to come! It will also have an option to automatically log online scan returns. Hopefully, I may get it done and tested today and released tomorrow...no promises though. Otherwise, probably looking at next weekend :/
I have a "beta" version ready but it is NOT uploaded as I need some others to test this out. It works on my pc just fine. I am looking for no more than 3 people to test this out and provide feedback to me on how it works and any errors. If you are interested in beta testing this, send an email to john[at]programmingsource.net with YInformer Testing as the subject. I will select the first 3 that I get (based on email header time stamp) and send a copy via email. You must be able to receive a 12.5 Mb attachment file.

PN Speedtest Update

The Speedtest Mini apparently had an update and rendered older ones useless. I just tried running a speedtest from here and it told me download an update. I have downloaded the update and updated the PN Speedtest module. If you run this speedtest from your site, you may need to update this file. You can also update the files yourself without having to wait for me to update it:

1. Download the new Speedtest Mini files and extract them.
2. Upload them to your root/modules/speedtest folder.
3. Modify your index.php file by looking for "modules/speedtest/speedtest.swf?v=1.x" and change the x to the current version that was downloaded from the Speedtest Mini site.
